Prophecies..
  • Omie September 2009
    hi!

generally I dont believe in umm.. world-level[?] prophecies like tsunamis and earthquakes etc.. but I recently saw a documentary film made by The History Channel.

They had combined 3-4 different things which all lead to same conclusion, 21Dec 2012.. something BIG gonna happen.. Doomsday :-S

First thing is Nostradamus. His prophecies were explained.
Then Maya civilization's calendar which ends on the same date.
In addition to that Pyramids in Egypt are built in such a design that they denote same thing..

Its connected to something that happens every some lakh years. Sun and some planets align with center of Milky Way Galaxy and Earth's magnetic field will be affected coz of that..

there are many many things they have said in it.. it was 700mb dvd backup, [ahem.. !]

do you guys [and girls] believe in this ? even dinosaurs died because of same reasons, they said..

Hey Omie.... "always emotion the future is... hmmmm!"

There have always been doomsday predictions. Y2K was one I remember, the world will stop, financial markets will collapse, and planes will fall from the sky. I'm sure there was some astrological aligmnent as well not that long ago that spent THE END.....

Don't believe the pyramids where build in such a way as to indicate anything in the future. Their shape is very similar to sand dunes, which is why they have lasted, but I do know that they are aligned to correspond with the sirius stars in Orign.

The dinosaurs didn't just die off like that *clicks fingers*. They died off slow enough to allow some of them to evolve into birds. They say it was the meteor but that may have been a catalyst for climate change, which is more likely the cause for the death of the dinos. I've heard there have been about 3 or 4 major extinctions in lifes history; one of them caused 90% of life to die... most of the time it's climate related. The only things from the stars that could wipe us all out is a meteor or some sort of gravitational change (squished to death) caused by a massive black hole somewhere getting too close but I doubt that would happen as we're so far from everything.

I'll believe doomsday when I see it....

    Omie

Damn (can I say that here?) I thought we created this forum to get away from deep thought?

Well, whether I believe it or not I don't really think matters. If it's true, what can I, or anybody else, do about it?

That Nostradamus dude has been wrong more than...(thinking)...one of George Bush's speeches.
Every few years we hear a warning that Nostradamus has predicted...I can't remember any of them actually being true. Then of course I can't remember what I had for breakfast today, either.

But if it is true, I would suggest finishing up any applications everyone is working on before the DEADline (get it? HaHaHa).
On second thought, don't worry about finishing it...there won't be anybody around to use it.

Besides, why would my higher power (don't want to offend anyone) want to kill off mankind? We're doing a good enough job of it ourselves.

And in the end, the bacteria and viruses and fungi are going to win, anyway. We are always reacting to them. We don't have the initiative.
Look at any war in history - the side that constantly reacted to the other side's actions, lost.

But seriously, since Omie posted a serious question. No, I personally don't believe the end of the world is pre-determined. And if it is, I don't believe any human would know of it or be able to figure it out.

heh! Okay. Its not that am afraid of that day. am no different from others, I'll suffer the same as others. Its just curiosity. I'm pretty much impressed by fortune tellers. I've seen how it works and I've even seen it coming true. and I believe it wasnt co-incidence. I have seen people having success rate as good as 95%. yes, they can foresee our future @-)

fortune tellers, most of them anyway, use a techinque called cold reading. Basically they say some general thing like...

"I see a woman in your life, an attractive woman, someone you care about in work maybe or ... "

and you nod like a little puppy....

ok thinks the fortune teller he fancies someone in work.... and continues...

"... I see she like you but it was only because of "

and you wanting to believe that say something like....

"at the dance right when I told her how I saved the old granny who fell up a tree"

ok thinks the fortune teller, bit of a hero, was at a dance.... and continues

    "no, it was after then...'

you nod more.... and so on... people can be very predicable, we all want to be loved, we all want to be rich, we all want to think we're liked, and we all think we're funny. These future seeing folk rely on that and tell us things we tell them to tell us.
